Special Constables
At their meeting at the Fox Inn last Thursday the Conisborough Section of West Riding Special Police were addressed by the Divisional Commander, Mr. E. W. Pettifer.
Mr. Pettifer expressed his satisfaction in reporting that the efforts in which he had taken a leading part, to obtain uniform for the Special Police in the West Riding were now meeting with some success, and about 50 per cent of the men were to be supplied and he hoped the uniform would be ready in a month’s time.
The County Authority had asked for some assurance of continued and regular service from the men to be supplied with new uniform, but with very few exceptions the past service showed that the men were prepared voluntarily to give highly satisfactory service, and he trusted that in the case of those men who were disappointed in the first issue of clothing, the same spirit and enthusiasm would prompt them to continue their duties as in the past.
He hoped that provision of uniform for the remainder of the men would not be long delayed.
Mr. Pettifer went on to give advice and instruction.
