Thirty-year-old Gunner J.C. Spencer, of 18, Parkgate Avenue, Conanby, Conisborough is with a light anti-aircraft battery in the Royal Artillery, and saw service in France and at Dunkirk, but is now somewhere in England.
Gunner Spencer, who was called up on august 24 th , 1939, had been in the Territorials for eight years and also served in the Regular Army with the K.O.Y.L.I. in 1928, but was discharged, with a good military record, on extreme compassionate grounds.
Gunner Spencer is married and has a family of seven.
Before the war he worked at Cadeby Main Colliery, Conisborough.
