Sport’s Doing its Bit
Sport is doing its bit to make things easier for the men in the Forces and many a football or cricket game is contributing to parcels and money orders to the boys who are “playing in the final” against Hitler: now even Spitfires will be swooping to the attack their existence partly due to football, cricket, swimming or other sports efforts.
It is ironical that sport is having a very difficult time because so many sportsmen are being called to the Colours.
Efforts are to be made this weekend in the Denaby and Conisborough districts for war charities. Denaby´s council side will meet Retford and their reserve eleveThisn will meet Conisborough Cricket Club at Conisborough.
Denaby United are also to help by fielding a side at Tickhill Square against an Army eleven.
Sunday cricket opens at Conisborough this weekend when Conisborough Special Constables meet Bowman´s eleven, also for a war charity.
