Stealing Fruit at Denaby

Albert Lindley, a filler, of Denaby, was summoned for stealing fruit at Denaby.

PC Lockwood said he was on duty at 12:15 near to Robinson’s farm, when he heard someone in the orchard. He went a short distance away, and saw two men come out and run away. He gave chase, and caught the prisoner, and asked him if he had had permission to be in the orchard, but there was no reply.

Mr Robinson had not given him permission to be there. He found on him apples and pears to the value of sixpence.

The prisoner was fined 20 shillings, including costs and damage, or 14 days in default.
