Stealing Quick Wood at Conisbrough.
Jno. Crowcroft, Gardner, Conisboro´, was charged with stealing a quantity of quick wood at that place on the 28th
ult.
Sgt Morley said on Monday the 28th ult. he was on duty in Conisbrough Road, and heard someone in a piece of woodland belonging to Mr Montague.
He went in and found three lots of quick wood dug up.
He saw the defendant and asked what he was doing. He said Mr Blythe, of Conisbrough and given information to get the quick wood.
He took up the three lots and went home with them.
Fined 4 shillings, 11s 6d costs and 2 shillings for the quick wood, and if caught doing anything of the kind again to be sent to prison without the option of a fine.
