Stile Collector

Whose is the responsibility for the provision and maintenance of stiles such as are found on several walks in the vicinity?

Recently I have observed that the stile to the Holywell field from Park Road to Lime Grove has disappeared and much inconvenience is caused to the many users of that track. Should it be replaced by the Council?

If so, some attention might be given to the road leading to the stile and to the paths from it.These were put into very good order by Council workmen some months ago, but recently have been showing signs of wear.

The disappearance of this particular style has presented difficulties to the tenant of the field for on quite a number of occasions the gate has been removed  and it has been damaged in the process. In in addition to this damage there is the danger of horses straying, and as the fence is high at that Point the stile ought to be replaced as soon as positive.

Another stile which has also dis disappeared lends into the Pygotts Park through the Fat Works, but here the fence is low and there is not so much inconvenience.

Is somebody collecting stiles?
