Conisborough Boys In Court

Accused of stealing eight purses and handbags containing a total of £19 6s. 6d. in cash, two 13-year-old Conisborough boys appeared at the Doncaster W.R. Juvenile Court on Wednesday.

It was stated that the money had been taken from perambulators and shopping baskets at Mexborough.

Arising out of these charges Albert Ellis (19), haulage hand, of Sandymount Road, was charged with receiving £11 12s. knowing it to have been stolen.

The father of one of the lads who had pleaded guilty, said his son had told him that two older boys kept watch while he did the steal-in.

In a statement to the police, this boy said he gave the money to Albert Ellis to save.

Ellis was sent to prison for three months.

One boy was bound over for 12 months and ordered to pay £2 costs. The other was bound over for 12 months and ordered to pay £3 costs.
