Stole Three Geese

Joseph Ramsey and Eustace Bernard Nickling, miners, were yesterday, at the West Riding Court charged with having stolen three geese, value 12s., from the Station Hotel, Swinton, the property of James Arthur Ward, licensee, on the 27th. The geese were missed from a pen on Ward’s premises.

The defendants disposed of one of the birds to the caretaker of a working-men’s club at New Conisborough for 4s. and it was subsequently cooked for dinner.

Later the two other geese were sold to an innkeeper for 6s.

Defendants, stated that at the time they were in drink.

Fined 10s. and costs.
