Street Betting At Denaby.

At Doncaster, to-day, Joseph Allen, labourer, of Denaby, was fined 20s. and 1s. 6d. costs for street betting at Denaby on May 17th.

Police-constable Glitheroe finding him taking bets in Doncaster Road, went up to him and said “You are at it again.”

Searching him he found three slips and 6s. 11d.

Defendant admitted the betting, but said that was not doing it himself.

Turning to the magistrates, defendant added ”I know nowt about horse-racing, I’m no scholar.”
