Denaby Youth Improperly uses Safety Lamp

A useful Denaby pit hand, named William Henry Oakes, was summoned for a breach of colliery rules at the Denaby Colliery on May 6.

Mr Allen, who appeared to prosecute, said the defendant was charged with improperly using a safety lamp by hitting another with it. The lad had a good character, and the Colliery Company did not wish to press the case.

Defendant pleaded guilty, and was fined 11/6 inclusive
