Subscriptions deducted From Wages.
Yesterday the Bishop Leeds opened a Roman Catholic church at the mining village of Denaby Main.
The building is the outcome of the exertions the local priest, the Rev. Father Cavanagh.
He secured a gift of land from the late Mr. Andrew Montagu, of Melton Hall, and money the amount of about £1,000 has been obtained from the working men and their sons, being weekly deductions from their wages, by consent.
The total cost of the building, along with in adjoining presbytery, is £3,000.
