Surprised Prisoner.

Yesterday, Doncaster, a youth named Charles Damant, glass hand. New Conisborough, was brought up on remand charged with breaking into a look-up shop New Conisborough occupied by Willie Acaster, and stealing 13 pairs of boots.

When apprehended and charged prisoner said the charge was true, and he and two other persons broke into the shop and took the boots, and also got some money from the slot-meter.

Afterwards he said he had told a lie. The police have been unable to obtain further information or to trace the stolen goods.

Prisoner was discharged, to his apparent surprise, and somewhat tardily left the court.
