Taking a Pipe into the Denaby Pit

John Walters, miner, was fined 20s, including costs for having taken a pipe into the Denaby Main Colliery.

On the 4th a search was instituted, and in the back pocket of his coat a tobacco pipe was discovered.

Defendant said he had been most careful with regard to matches and tobacco, and he could not account for the “find” which are being made.
