Taking Lucifer Match Into The Denaby Pit.

To-day at the Rotherham West Riding Police Court, before Messrs. S. Camm, and H. S. F. Jebb, a miner, named William Mellor, of Mexborough, was fined 5s. and costs for having infringed Rule 99 the Coal Mines Regulation Act by. taking a lucifer match into the Denaby Main Colliery.

On the 3rd the workmen were searched, and in the lining of defendant’s waistcoat a lucifer match was found.

Mr. Hickmott, who prosecuted, said it was not alleged that the match had been wilfully taken into the mine.
