Teachers’ Difficulties.
A meeting of the Conisbro’ Education Committee was held yesterday, Mr. W. H. Chambers presiding.
The average attendance for the month was given by the warden, Mr. Maxfield, as 91.19.
The Inspector reported on the Station road mixed school, which, he said, presented special difficulties.
“Many of the children,” he reported, appear to be neglected at home, and extra attention has to be given to their clearness; some are backward mentally. Further, the school has been much overcrowded for some time, two classes having taught under difficult conditions in the large central hall and some of the classrooms have been overcrowded.
The teachers in these rooms are in charge of numbers in excess of their qualifications. The teachers have worked on steadily in spite of the many difficulties, and have in some directions, produced very good results.”
