‘Teenagers Vindicated At Conisbrough

If only the critics of our present-day ‘teenagers could have been present at the Tom Hill Y.C. v Conisbrough Co-op. Y.C. match they would have been stricken to a shameful and repentant silence.

Determination, courage and sportsmanship were on display in plentiful quantities for the 70 minutes of this thrill-packed clash between the two local youth clubs. This was a local derby, and not the kind where village meets village.  Here we had brother versus brother, and not even the snow and ice could lessen the powerful will to give of their best shown by these young footballers.

The teams were drawing 1-1 at half time and ten minutes from the end Conisbrough had a 3-1 lead and the excitement was terrific.  Three minutes from the end Tom Hill had equalised at 4-4 and in the dying seconds made it 5-5 with virtually the last kick of the match.

It would be invidious to single anybody out for special praise. They were all magnificent. Well played lads.
