The Alleged Grievances at Denaby Main Colliery
A deputation appointed by the workmen employed at Denaby Main Colliery to inquire into the grievances reported in the previous week’s issue waited upon the manager, Mr. Chambers, on Friday.
Afterwards the deputation attended a meeting in the Lodge-room and reported the results of their interview. Following their report, several resolutions were passed.
First, the meeting approved of the report given by the deputation and confirmed the actions it had taken.
Secondly, it was resolved that Mr. Chappell should write to other collieries to ascertain the customary arrangements regarding the provision of datallers’ tools, and then attempt to secure similar arrangements for the day-men at Denaby.
Thirdly, it was resolved that Mr. Chappell should attempt to have the fine of five shillings returned to S. Davis.
