The Bridge Again
Old Denaby Seek Information
Only three Councillors were present at a meeting of Old Denaby Parish Council last night. The question of a bridge over the river was again raised and it was agreed that letters be sent to Mexborough U.D.C. and to the West Riding County Council asking for latest information.
It was reported that the County Council Highways Authority, had refused a request to impose a five-m.p.h. speed limit on traffic using Ferryboat Lane, and the Parish Council decided that the Highways Authority be contacted again, pointing out the road was not built for heavy traffic and that in a few years’ time it would be worn and would have to be repaired.
It will be suggested that posts be erected at the end of the lane, to prevent all but light traffic from entering.
Signposts are soon to be erected at each end of Old Denaby, (at Kilnhurst and Denaby Main) pointing to village of “Old Denaby” and not “Denaby” as in the past.
