The Denaby Miners
A crowded meeting of employés at Denaby Main met at the Masons’ Arms Inn, Mexborough, on Tuesday night, for the purpose of hearing the report of the delegate to the Conference held at Sheffield on Monday and Tuesday, and to decide whether the men should confirm or not the previous resolution.
This resolution, it will be remembered, was to the effect that the whole of the men withdraw the notices they tendered on the 23rd ult.
After hearing the report of the delegate, which was decidedly adverse to a strike, it was unanimously decided that the previous resolution be confirmed.
A deputation was appointed to visit the managers of the colliery, and to acquaint them with the decision of the meeting, when it is expected that the whole of the notices to quit their tenements, served on 400 heads of families at Denaby Main, will be withdrawn.
