The Late Mr. I. L. Moseley Of Denaby
Tickiiill Street, Denaby Main, was on Saturday, lined with a large concourse of people who were paying their last tribute to a well-known resident of the village for the last 50 years.
It was the funeral of Sergt-Major Isaac Louis Moseley (73), of 97, Tickbill Street, whose death we recorded in our last Issue.
Sergt.-Major Moseley had been connected with the local St. John Ambulance Brigade for about 50 years and the cortege was preceded by Denaby St. John Ambulance Band under Bandmaster R. Whittington, and a large assembly of officers and members of the Brigades and Divisions from the area also included Cadets.
The parade was under the command of Corp Secretary L. Harvey, in the absence of Corp Supt. C. J. Pickett. M.B.E., M.C., who was unable through other duties to attend.
Many public bodies were also represented, including the Urban Council, of which the Chairman, Mr R. H. Shepard, J.P.. attended the service. Mr. Percy Webb was the organist and the Vicar (Rev. F. Herrington) conducted the service and paid tribute to the public work Mr. Moseley had done, including his work in connection with the Ambulance movement, and made reference to his having been at one time a member of the Parish Choir.
The mourners included Mr and Mrs W. H. Moseley, Mr and Mrs K. Moseley, Mr. Brian Moseley, Mr Stanley Moseley, Master Bernard Moseley, Mr Walter Revill, and committee and members of Denaby United Supporters’ Club.
