The New Conisborough Railway

The following particulars of the new railway which is to be termed the South Yorkshire Junction Railway, will be found interesting:

Railway Number One

Wholly situate in the parish of Conisborough commencing by junction with the Denaby Main Colliery sidings at a point 50 yards, measured in a westerly direction from the eastern end thereof and terminating at a point 100 yards or thereabouts, measured at right angles to and in a northerly direction from the M.S.and L.R. at point to the 20 yards measured in an easterly direction along the said railway, through the centre of the level crossing leading from the Mexborough and Conisborough road to the Denaby Main Collieries.

Railway Number Two

Wholly situate in the parish of Conisborough commencing by junction with the Denaby Main Colliery sidings at a point 23 yards, measured in a easterly direction from the along the said railway from the centre of the level crossing leading from the Mexborough and Conisborough road to the Denaby Main Collieries, and terminating by a junction with really number one at the termination thereof.

Railway Number Three

Commencing by a junction with Railways number one and two at their termination and terminating in the parish of Sprotbrough, at a point 540 yards measured in a southerly direction for the southern end of Ings Lane, and 420 yards or thereabouts measured in a northerly direction from the centre of the towing path.

Railway Number Four

Wholly situate in the parish of Sprotbrough commencing by junction with really number three at its termination, and terminating at a point 80 yards or thereabouts measured at right angles to and in an easterly direction from the centre of Ings Lane.

Railway Number Five

Commencing by a junction with really number four at its termination and terminating in the township of North Elmsall by a junction with the Hull and Barnsley Railway in a south-westerly direction.

Railway Number Six

Wholly situate in the parish of Sprotbrough, commencing by junction with railway number three at its termination, and terminating at a point 580 yards or thereabouts.

Railway Number Seven

Wholly situate in the parish of Sprotbrough, commencing by junction with railway number five at the commencement, and terminating by junction with railway number six at its termination.

Railway Number Eight

Commencing by junction with Railways number six and seven at their termination, and terminating in the township of love assault, at a point 220 yards or thereabouts measured at right angles to and in a south-westerly direction from the centre of the G.N.R. at a point 240 yards of thereabouts measured in a south-easterly direction along the said railway from its junction with the G.N. and G.E. Joint Railway, known as Black Carr Junction.

Railway Number Nine

Commencing by a junction with railway number eight at the termination and terminating in the parish of Cantley at a point 50 yards or thereabouts measured at right angles to and in a north-easterly direction from the centre of the G.N.R.

Railway Number Ten

Wholly situate in the parish of Cantley, commencing by junction with railway number nine at its termination and terminating by junction with the G.N. and G.E. Joint railway at the Black Carr Junction.

Railway Number Eleven

Commencing by a junction with railway number eight at its termination and terminating in the parish of Cantley by junction with the G.N.R.at a point 850 yards of thereabouts known as Black Carr Junction.

Railway Number Twelve

Only situate in the parish of Cantley commencing by junction with railway number nine at its termination and terminating by junction with the G.N.R. from black Carr junction.

The said intended Railways will pass through Conisborough, Mexborough, Hampole, Skelbrooke, North Council, Sprotbrough, Warmsworth, Cusworth, Mark, Brodsworth, Cadeby, Adwick le Street, South Kirkby, Doncaster and Cantley, Balby, Loversall and Cantley
