The State of Ivanhoe Land

Conisborough, in summer, is not much to boast about in certain of its thoroughfares. But in midwinter Ivanhoe land is – well, I’m a cautious chap and might write something too strong. I must leave you to guess the rest.

The people of Mexborough and Swinton grumble about the state of the street. The condition of Conisborough is indescribably worse.

Is not Mr Whitefield justified in his animated versions about the authority sitting at Doncaster having control of the district highways! Aye rather!

An occasional visit is plenty for me. Who can appreciate mud up to the ankles and put holes which splash up to the knees, with the likelihood of coming a cropper in some “slough of despond” because of the lack of illumination when minus the moon!

Yes, good luck to your scheme, my worthy councillors.
