The Worst Home He Ever Saw.
Denaby Single Woman and Her Neglected Family.
Lucy Allen, single, Denaby, was charged at Doncaster yesterday with neglecting her four illegitimate children.
Inspector Lloyd, N.S.P.C.C.. said he was going through the parish a few days ago when his attention was directed to the defendant’s little boy, aged seven, who was in rags and tatters.
He followed him to his home, and a worse home never saw.
The defendant had had six illegitimate children, and four of them were now under sixteen years of age, one being only a few months old. They were all fairly well fed but -were all in a very dirty, verminous condition.
The house was in dreadful state, especially the bedding
Dr. McArthur, who was called in, said it “capped anything that had ever seen as regarded filth, particularly the bed.
It was stated the woman had been subsisting rag gathering.
The Bench sent her to gaol for four months.
