Mexboro and District Trades Council
The Annual Dinner
” Town and Trade of the District was proposed by Councillor J. Dixon (Denaby Main), who took the opportunity of criticism of a recent article, in a religious journal, by a ” special commissioner.” greatly reflecting on the morals of Denaby Main.
He said the article was disgraceful, and would do the journal no good ; the writer had ” raked up all the filth and dirt” he could.
Undoubtedly, there were bad folk at Denaby, as elsewhere, but there were also honest and true men to be found there: men who appreciates, the services of the sanctuary, and who also valued the reading-room aid library which had been established in the village for their benefit. (Hear, hear.)
