Theft at Conisborough
At the Doncaster West Riding Court yesterday Charles Parkin, cutler, Sheffield, was committed to prison for 14 days for stealing a jersey, the property of Luke Beardsley, assistant schoolmaster, of Denaby, the Saturday before.
Beardsley had been playing at football, and went to the Station Inn, Conisborough, where he left his jersey. Later on he missed it, and seeing the prisoner he asked him if he had seen it. Parkin at first said he had not, but afterwards gave the jersey to the prosecutor, stating that he had taken it in a lark.
