Airman – Cricketer

A member of a well-known Conisborough cricketing family, Aircraftman Roland (Chick) Thompson, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Thompson, of 48, Highfield Road, is himself a cricketer and on his last leave from R.A.F. assisted his old club in a league match

Aircraftman Thompson who is 25 and single, actually played for Conisborough A. team before he was 15. He was a regular member of the first eleven for the last two or three years, and played for the club when they won the Doncaster League championship seven years ago.

Aircraftman Thompson who was educated at the Station Road and Morley Place Schools, Conisborough, joined the Air Force early in June as a transport driver and was recently posted overseas.

In civil life he was a lorry driver with Messrs. Appleyard and Lumb (Transport), Ltd., Sheffield Road, Conisborough.
