Thurnscoe and Conisbrough Fire Calls

In the space of a few hours on Friday Mexborough and Conisbrough firemen were called to three fires in the area.

Firemen called from Mexborough to High House Farm. Thurnscoe, found that a fire in seeding apparatus, owned by Mr. L. Cropper, had already dealt with.

Mexborough and Conisbrough firemen were called to a fire in a haystack at 9, Newhill, Conisbrough, owned by Mr. I. Thompson. Two tons of hay were ruined and it was the second time that firemen had been called to the fire which they had already extinguished during the afternoon. How the fire re-started is not known.

A hut used for brooding chickens, owned by Mr. R. Manchester in allotments at the rear of Cemetery House, Tickhill Street, Denaby, was destroyed. It is believed that no chickens were lost.
