Among Colliers and Fillers
Through the action of 12 colliers who came out on strike on Thursday, no coal was brought up from Haigh Moor seam at Denaby Main colliery on Friday.
Because of the action of the collieries there was no coal for 36 fillers to fill on Friday and they came out on strike after refusing to do other work.
The 12 colliers had objected to a method of working in the Haigh Moor seam. They claimed that the packing and drawing off system was unsafe.
- U. M. Secretary, County Councillor, George M. Hanson estimated that about 400 tons of coal have been lost in the strike. Normal work was resumed on Monday morning.
