Denaby United Ballots.
Time is running short for Denaby United. With the annual meeting, within the next couple of weeks. They are still to take a ballot amongst the men at Denaby and Cadeby Collieries asking them whether they are prepared to subscribe a further threepence a week from their wages to the club.
United secretary, Mr Arthur Roberts, said this week that they were waiting for a reply from the colliery’s management to our request that they had made for a meeting to discuss the organisation of the ballot.
“We would have liked a majority decision on the issue, but the N.U.M.branch has said no, and now it will be left to each individual to say whether he is prepared to give the money or not, “said Mr Roberts. “I am sure that quite a lot will vote for it, and then the position will have to be discussed at our annual meeting.”
The Midland League’s annual meeting, when, Denaby, if they are to stay in the competition, will have to apply for re-election, will follow closely on June 27.
“We want to know what is happening about the club’s finances before we go to that meeting,” said Mr Roberts.
