Too Hasty.

At Doncaster, on Saturday, Charles Wright Denaby, was summoned for having assaulted J Brammer, a builder’s labourer of the same place, at Denaby, on the 29th ult.

Complainant was going to his work about 6 a.m. on the date named, and was looking through a boarding erected near some buildings when a girl came up Cliff street and then ran back.

Shortly afterwards the defendant (the girls brother) found complainant leaning over wall awaiting the arrival of his mates, and knocked him down and kicked him..

P.c. Middleton witnessed the assault, and to him the girl afterwards admitted that complainant had not interfered with her in any way.

Defendant told the magistrates that his sister visited his bedroom, and complained that a man had rushed into the house and thrown a stone at her. He hurridly dressed and went in search of the man, who, he understood was the complainant.

An inclusive penalty of 40s or a months imprisonment, was the punishment.
