Too Shy To Come To Court.

Some amusement was caused in the Court at the Doncaster Petty Sessions on Tuesday at an excuse made for the non-attendance of Horace Boyers (27), a              Denaby miner, who was summoned for being drunk and disorderly at Conisborough.

The case was adjourned for defendant to appear personally.

When the case was called defendant’s mother answered.

The Chairman: Where is your son ?—He is at home.

Why has he not come to Court?—Because he has never been in a Police Court before and he does not like to come.

You must stand down and tell him he must have the courage to come here and not send his mother (laughter).
