A Trade Secretary Committed

John Arthur Sunderland, 47, glassblower, and until recently, the secretary of the Conisbrough Branch Lodge of the Glass Bottle Makers of Yorkshire United Trade Protection Society, was indicted for obtaining by false pretences, from a lad named Benjamin Atkins, one of the members of the society, the sum of 20 shillings, with the intent to cheat and defraud, at Conisbrough, on 3rd August. Mr Gane prosecuted.

The jury found the prisoner guilty, and he was committed to prison for 12 months with hard Labour
