Trolley Bus Accident

Owing to the icy state of Station Road at the junction of Elm Green Lane yesterday, a Mexborough and Swinton Traction Company’s trolley vehicle, which was travelling in the direction of Mexborough, skidded and swerved across the road.

The bus, the rear windows which were broken, came into collision with a gas lamp standard, which was fractured at the base.

None of the passengers in the bus was injured, and the vehicle was towed back into position by an Urban Council lorry. The gas lamp fracture was plugged by Mr W Lewis (Council foreman) until the arrival of gas workers, who cut off the supply. The service was not interrupted more than 15 minutes.
