Using The Poker At Denaby

At Doncaster on Saturday, Frederick Butler, collier, Denaby, was charged with being drunk and disorderly, assaulting P.c. Rutter, and damaging that officer’s helmet.

Prisoner, who had a poker, threatened to kill his wife. The officer was summoned, and the prisoner became very violent, striking him on the helmet and shoulder with the poker.

It was with difficulty that he was apprehended, and on Friday he was remanded in custody.

He was committed prison for one month for the assault, fined 5s. and costs for being drunk, and ordered to pay 5s. damage to the helmet, and costs.
