Visitor from U.S.A. – Joan Depew
Visitor from a visitor to the Denaby village this week is Mrs Joan Depew, of Kansas USA who arrived in England on Wednesday to visit her mother and stepfather, Mr and Mrs H Whitehouse, of 35 Tickhill Street, Denaby Main.
She hopes to stay a few months in England to visit relatives and friends.
Mrs Depew met her husband, Mr Dwayne Arthur Depew when she was serving in the ATS during the war and Mr Depew was then in The United States Navy. She went to America with her husband in 1946 and a last visit home was in 1950.
The couple have one son, Leslie, now aged 20 and studying at college. Mr and Mrs Depew recently taken over a business in Kansas for this reason Mr Depew is unable to accompany his wife.
Mr and Mrs Whitehouse went to London on Tuesday to be at London Airport when the plane arrived early on Wednesday morning.
