The Conisbrough and Denaby members of the Women’s Voluntary Services held their second “birthday party” on Wednesday in Denaby Church Hall.

About 140 members attended and enjoyed a tea. The committee members presided at the tables. Mrs. Payling, the Don Valley Area Secretary, addressed the members, congratulating them upon the work they had done.

After tea a short whist drive was held, and prizes were won by Mrs. Day and Mrs. Tillotson. Mrs. Day was the M.C., and later Mrs. Pickett and Miss Joyce Chadwick played for dancing. Mrs. Shephard won a competition.
