War Savings Campaign

Perhaps publicity had not been sufficiently pronounced for the display and parade staged on Saturday on the football field, when it was hoped to make a special appeal for the formation of the street groups in connection with the war savings campaign.

The parade consisted mostly of the Conisborough and Denaby Home Guard, although Special Constables and some Scouts were also in attendance.  Unfortunately they were unable to obtain the services of the band.

On the field a display was given by the Home Guard, assisted by members of the Fire Brigade.  Coun. David Sheldon (chairman of the Savings Association) introduced Coun. B. Roberts, J.P. (Chairman of the Urban Council), who made a strong appeal for the formation of street groups in every street in the area.

The attendance of the public was not large and the group secretaries on duty were not exactly busy, but they hope to see good results through the effort made.
