Wath 67 Conisborough 66

This match was played on the Wath ground on Saturday before only a moderate number of spectators.

Conisborough only brought nine men, which practically lost them the match.

Wath won the toss and elected to bat. Ellis and Oldale went in first, but before many runs were opened the board, Ellis was finally bowled by Doctor Lounds. Gray then joined Oldale and a bit of a stand was made. After the fourth wicket had fallen none of the others could do anything against the admirable bowling of Doctor Lounds and the innings closed at 67.

Conisborough started exceedingly well, the Reverend W A Strawbridge and Doctor Lounds putting on a nice score for the first wicket. The finish was very exciting. As the last wicket only fell when the total was one behind the score made by Wath. There appears to be a bit of difference in the totals taken by the Conisborough score and the Wath score. The Conisborough team alleged that one of their last men made a run with which they were not credited, and that would therefore make the scores equal.
