We are Losing a Fine Headmaster

Tributes to Mr IK Hetherington, who is retiring in July after 27 years as headmaster of Balby Street School Denaby, were paid at Thursday’s meeting of Conisbrough Primary School Managers.

“We are losing a fine Headmaster who has done yeoman service at both Rossington Street and Balby Street Schools, and whom the people of Denaby have known and respected,” said Councillor A.E.Tyas.

“There have been only two headmasters at the school, Mr Hetherington has maintained the high standard set by his predecessor, Mr Frank Mason,” said Councillor J Stuart. “He has always been most obliging and courteous.”

The Manager decided to send a letter of appreciation to Mr Hetherington, wishing him a long and happy retirement, and are also to send a letter to Mrs Sheldrake, a member of staff at the school is also leaving after 27 years.
