We Shall Remember Them
A South Yorkshire Roll of Honour

The names of men and women of South Yorkshire who have given their lives while serving in H.M. Forces in the world war which has just ended are published in this Roll of Honour as a small tribute to their great sacrifice.

Their lives were given in the cause of freedom; in that determined resistance to a tyrannical way of life which has so magnificently vindicated the democratic ideal. We are proud to record these names for posterity.

It is not claimed that the lists published in this or succeeding issues must be regarded as complete. They are as full as it has been possible to make them from local records and through the co-operation of readers. We shall be glad, however, to be informed of any omissions and will try to include these, if particulars are supplied, in supplementary lists. The lists will be appearing regularly on this page for several weeks
