Wedding – Cooper & Race

Miss J. Cooper (Conisbrough) and Mr. G. Race (Conisbrough)

Miss Joyce Cooper, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Cooper, 9, Old Hill, Conisbrough, wore a gown of white lace of figured satin, cut on classical lines, when she was married at Conisbrough Wesley Methodist Chapel on Saturday, to Mr. Geoffrey Race, only son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Race, “Beulah”, Ellershaw Lane, Conisbrough.

The bride, whose embroidered veil was crowned with a wreath of orange blossom and caried deep red roses, was attended by Miss Molly Race, wearing white net over pink taffeta, and carrying pink roses, and by two small bridesmaids, Miss Carol Collins and Miss Elizabeth Massey wearing ankle length frocks of silk brocade and carrying sweet peas.

Best man was Mr. Ronald Partington (Wrexham) and Mr. Brian Callaghan was groomsman. The service was conducted by the Rev. J. E. P. Edwards and Mrs. S. Barber was organist.  The hymns “O Father All Creating” and “Oh Perfect Love” being sung.

The bride’s mother wore a blue Jacquard silk dress and blue coat with navy accessories, and the bridegrooms mother wore a grey costume with pink accessories. A reception was held at the Wesley Chapel and the honeymoon is being spent in Bournemouth, the bride traveling in a grey coat over an ice blue dress with grey accessories. Both the bride and bridegroom are members of Conisbrough Wesley Youth Club. The bride, a member of staff at Morley Place Infants’ School, has received a canteen of cutlery from her colleagues.
