Wedding Day Hitch at Denaby Main
Church service, reception, but no wedding – that was the experience of Miss Sylvia Chapman of Denaby, and Mr Frank Siddall, of Sheffield.
Everything was arranged for a white wedding for the couple at Denaby St Alban’s Church last Tuesday, but although they had a short church service and a reception in the Denaby Main Hotel, the couple were not married until Saturday.
Mr Chapman, who lived at six, Sprotborough Hall Street, Denaby, got her licence from the registrar at Doncaster, whilst Mr Siddall, who lives at Parson’s Cross, obtained his licence at Sheffield.
The technical hitch was not released until the day of the wedding when the Roman Catholic priest Barbara O’Keeffe, told him that they could not get married because the license should be obtained from the same registrar.
Not be disappointed, the couple carried on with the wedding reception and were married on Saturday instead. – They are now living in Sheffield.
