Wedding: Gill & Pears
In their black and amber football shirts, members of the Denaby Victoria Football Club attended the wedding of one of their popular players at Denaby Parish Church on Monday.
The bridegroom was Mr. William Henry Pears, third son of Mrs. A Pears, Doncaster Road, Denaby, and the late Mr. Pears, and his bride was Miss Nellie Gill, second daughter of Mrs. C. Gill, Doncaster Road, Denaby, and the late Mr. Gill.
The bridegroom has been a playing member of the club for some seasons and his bride is a strong supporter of the club. Ten members of the club formed a guard of honour at the church and the best man and groomsmen, were members. The secretary, treasurer and chairman, with many regular supporters, attended.
The Rev. S. Powley officiated.
As the couple left the church, they had to face the barracking calls of the football field, and behind their car was tied a well-worn football boot.
