Wedding – Hassey & Hibbard – Evacuee Marries

Mr. T. Hibbard (Denaby) and Miss A. Hassey (Jersey)

An evacuee from Jersey was married at Denaby Parish Church on Saturday, the Rev. S. Powley officiating.

She was Miss Amelia Hassey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hassey of Jersey, and married Mr. T. Hibbard, son of the late Mrs. Hibbard and of Mr. A. Hibbard, of 4, Cliff View. Denaby Main.

The bride, along with her parents, was evacuated from the Channel Islands, and her parents are now in London.

Miss Hassey obtained employment in the Conisborough branch of the Doncaster Co-operative Society and has lived with Mr. and Mrs. Davies, of 58, Blythe Street, Denaby Main, along with another Jersey evacuee, Miss Barbara Thornton, who attended her at the wedding. Wearing a two-piece dusky pink costume with navy blue accessorise and a spray of carnations the bride was given away by Mr A. Davies. Miss Thornton had a Royal blue dress with navy hat and toning shoes and a spray of carnations. The small maid was Mary Green, who wore a dress of pale blue satin beaute with imitable head-dress and a posy of sweet peas and carnations, and she presented the bride with a silver horseshoe. Miss J. Kelly, a friend from Jersey, now living in Lancashire, wore a floral satin dress and accessories to tone and a spray of carnations.

Mrs. Davies held the reception at her home and wore a dress of figured saxe blue with a hat en suite and a spray of carnations. Mr. B. Whittaker was the best man and Mr. J. Hibbard the groomsman.
