Ford–Holmes

On Tuesday at the Parish Church, Conisboro’, Miss Clarice Bertha Holmes, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Holmes, 133, Tickhill Street, Denaby, was married to Mr. Thomas Wilfred Heseltine Ford, only son of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Ford, 50, Northcliff Road, Conisboro’, the Rev. W. J. T. Pascoe officiating.

The bride wore pearl charmeuse, Juliet cap of pearls and carried a shower of lilies-of-the-valley and white heather.

The matron of honour was Mrs. Sylvia Sheridan, sister of the bride, who wore mauve lace and organdie, crinoline hat and lace mittens. Betty Williamson, a small attendant, was in powder blue organdie. Mrs. Sheridan carried a muff with primroses and violets, and Betty Williamson a Victorian posy of forget-me-nots. The bridegroom’s gifts to them were silver diamante bracelets.

The bride’s mother wore a grey swagger costume with mauve hat and carried a spray of white camelias. The bridegroom’s mother wore a dress of Lido blue georgette and lace and carried a spray of white carnations.

The service was choral. Mr. W. Farmer was organist and the hymns “O Perfect Love” and “Lead us, Heavenly Father” were sung.

The best man was Mr. S. Gibson (London) and the groomsmen Messrs. Eric Holmes, Ken. Bellamy and Geoffrey A. White.

A reception was held at the Lord Conyer Hotel, after which the couple left for Paris for their honeymoon, the bride travelling in a tailored costume of shepherd’s plaid.
