Wedding – Maclure & Hutchinson (picture)

A large congregation at Conisbrough Parish Church on Wednesday witnessed the wedding of the daughter of a well known local doctor The bride was Miss Elizabeth Mary Maclure, daughter of Doctor and Mrs. W. J. Maclure, Terrace House, High Street, Conisbrough, and the bridegroom Mr. Charles G. I. Hutchinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hutchinson. of Bromley, Kent.

The church, which was beautifully decorated with daffodils, presented a spring-like appearance at the ceremony, which was conducted by the bride’s uncle, the Rev. A. Rhys James. Rector of Bow, Devon, assisted by Canon W. J. T. Pascoe a former Vicar of Conisbrough.

The hymns. “Praise My Soul” and “O Perfect Love.” which were led by the boys of the Parish Church choir, were accompanied at the organ by Mr. W. Farmer. F.R.C.O., L.R.A.M.

The bride, who was given away by her father, looked very smart in a pearl grey crepe dress with a high neck and an unpressed pleated skirt, over which she wore a short ermine cape. She had navy blue shoes, a hat and muff of cherry coloured silk and grey grieve and wore a shoulder spray of purple violets.

A royal blue woolen tailored dress with a white felt hat, white gloves, navy shoes and a spray of pink carnations, was worn by Miss Lydia Clarke, a friend of the bride, who, with Miss Rosemary West, the bridegroom’s niece, was in attendance. Miss West wore a charming two-piece in dusky pink crepe comprising dress and bolero, a Burgundy straw hat and accessories, and a spray of red roses.

The best man was Mr. T L. Brear, a friend of the bridegroom, and Mr. J. R. Fisher groomsman.

The bride’s mother received the guests at Terrace House wearing an olive green ensemble with a grey fox fur, a black straw hat, ‘black accessories, and a spray of pink roses. Mrs. Hutchinson attended in a brown coat, a floral dress, with accessories to tone.

After the reception the couple left for their honeymoon, the bride travelling in a green suit to which she wore a cherry coloured jumper, black accessories, and a black hat with a cherry coloured quill.

The bride is an Associate of the Royal College of Music (piano and violin). and before the war was a music teacher in London. She is now engaged on Civil Defence work in Doncaster. The bridegroom is a master at Denston College, Staffordshire.
