Wedding
On Tuesday morning it was very apparent that something special was on the carpet, the town of Conisborough being in a state of excitement.
The Wesleyan Chapel was the scene of a very interesting event, one of moment at all times, especially to the fair sex. The contracting parties were Mr. John A. Bateson, second son of Mr. John Kilner Bateson. Glass Works, to Miss Sarah Emily Sharp, second daughter of Mr. R. H. Sharp, ‘The Poplars,’ Conisborough.
The chapel was full of spectators who had attended to witness the ceremony, the young couple being well known in Conisborough and highly respected, as indeed are both the families. The bridesmaids were Misses Sharp, Bateson, R. Sharp and D. Sharp. Mr. Harold H. Sharp acted as best man, and Mr. Geo. Kilner as groomsman. The bride, who was very prettily dressed, was given away by her father, and the Rev. Bonner, Congregational minister, Birmingham, was the officiating minister.
Mr. H. J. Sharp (brother of the bride) played Mendelssohns ‘Wedding March’ as the happy couple left the chapel. The honeymoon is to be spent at Bridlington. The presents were numerous and very costly.
