Mr Chadburn (Denaby) and Miss H Peters (Denaby)
At Denaby Parish Church, the wedding took place on New Year’s Day of Miss Barbara Peters, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Peters, of 1. Alexandra Buildings. Denaby Main, Chad the and Mr. Kenneth Chadburn, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Chadburn, of 79, Warmsworth Street, Denaby Main. The bride’s father is a well-known local business man and is People’s Warden at the Parish Church.
The Vicar, the Rev. S. Powley, officiated at the service, which was choral. Mr. Ernest Dabbs officiating at the organ.
As the bride and bridegroom entered the vestry after the ceremony, he played the ” Wedding March,” from ” Lohengrin.” and as they left the Church, Mendelssohn’s Wedding March ” was played. The congregation sang ” Lead us Heavenly Father,” and ” 0 Perfect Love.” The altar at the Church was decorated with white chrysanthemums. The bride, who was presented with a silver horse-shoe by her mother was given away by her father end was attired in a pretty gown of figured white lace, one of the sale, and trimmed with white satin. Her veil was loaned .by Mrs. Rich and she had orange blossom and a bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums mums. Her attendants were Miss Joy Lunn and Miss Kathleen Sheldrake, and they wore pretty pink lace dresses, over silk, with Juliet caps and pink flowers forming haloes.
They carry chrysanthemums, and received a powder compact and brought from the bridegroom. The maids were Patricia Donahue and Margaret Robinson, in dresses of pink flowered silk, with silver lace caps and carrying poses of chrysanthemum. They had necklaces from the bridegroom.
The best man was Mr W Binch, of Mexborough and the groomsmen were Mr Geoffrey Peters (brother of the bride) and Mr Clifford Williams.
A reception was held in the church hall which Mrs Peter received the guests, wearing a black dress with clover coloured trimmings and a hat en suite, while Mrs Chapman, mother of the bridegroom, and a brown marocain dress was toning hat. Both wore sprays of pink carnations.
The bridegroom is a member of the RAF, which he joined voluntary last June. He presented prizes a gold locket and chain and from the bride received a Rolls razor.
