Dental Surgeon Marries Nurse
Mr Ray Ward and Miss Mary Preston
Miss Mary Preston, a staff nurse at the Fullerton Hospital, Denaby, was married at All Saints’ Church on Monday to Mr. Ray Ward, dental surgeon, of “Bridge House,” Ripon. Miss Preston is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Preston, of “Hall Bank,” The Hill, Millom, Cumberland, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ward, of 5, Tickhill Square, Denaby Main.
The Rev. S. Powley officiated, and Mr. E. Dabbs was the organist, the hymn ‘Lead us, Heavenly Fatter” being sung.
Given away by her brother, Mr. W. Preston, the bride wore a gown of taffeta trimmed with lace, with train and a veil and flower head-dress; she carried lilies. The bridesmaids were the Misses G. Preston, G. Longley, M. Milner and E. Lee. The elder bridesmaids wore green taffeta with gold Juliet caps and gold lame muffs, and the small attendants pink net with gold Juliet caps. The elder two wore gold lame muffs, and the children carried anemones.
Mr. E. Robinson was best man, Messrs. B. Caddick and A. Lapidge groomsmen, and Messrs. S. Steel and A. Mangham ushers.
