Picturesque Ceremony at Denaby

There was a large congregation at All Saints’ Parish Church, Denaby, on Saturday to witness the wedding, solemnised by the Vicar, the Rev. S. Foyle, of Miss. Vera Thomas, elder daughter of the late Mr.D.Thomas, and of Mrs. Thomas, of 21, Hamelin Road, Conisborough, and Mr. Ernest Sheldrake, fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Sheldrake, Breaston House, Tickhill Square, Denaby Main.

Both bride and bridegroom are well known and popular members of the Parish Church. The bride has for several years been a member of the staff of the Rossington Street Junior School, from the members of whom she last week received a wedding, gift in the form of an oak firescreen.

This The bridegroom is the manager of the Hickleton Street branch of the Denaby Main Industrial Co-operative Society, and also for many years has been a loyal member of the Parish Church choir, the members of which attended the service in their robes.

The Vicar and, the choir met the bride at the door of the church , and walked in procession to the chancel steps singing the hymm, “Lead us, Heavenly Father, lead us. The bride was led to the chancel by her uncle, Mr. J. Stevens, of Dore. She was daintily attired in a dress of white satin with an overdress of lace which ended in a train. She had a coronet of orange blossom and wore a white net veil (loaned by Mrs. G. Stevens), and the ensemble was completed with a shower bouquet of pink carnations.

Her attendants were the Misses M. Thomas, B. Peters, K. Sheldrake and N. Dudhill. The small maid was Miss Joan Sanderson (niece of the bridegroom). Miss Thomas and Miss Peters were attired in dresses of Mauve lace over taffeta, and Miss Sheldrake and Miss Dudhill in pink lace er taffeta. They all wore silver Juliet caps with veils to tone with their dresses, and carried anemones. The small maid was dressed in pink net with silver Juliet cap and carried a posy of anemones. Their gifts from the bridegroom were silver bracelets.

The best man was Mr. G. Sheldrake (brother of the bridegroom), and the groomsmen were Messrs. B. Thomas and A. Simpson. The ushers at the Church were Messrs. J. Sheldrake and W. Sanderson (brother and brother-in-law of the bridegroom). Mr. E. Dabbs (organist and choirmaster of the Parish
